Every question we get, answered plainly.
Pricing, ownership, booking engines, Google, timelines — the whole conversation, written down. If it's not here, email us and we'll answer that too.
Working with us
Who is MotelWebWorks for?
Independent motels, motor lodges, roadside inns, courts, and small independent hotels across the United States. If a franchise system already dictates your website, we're not your studio — and we'll say so on the first call.
How does a project start?
You send the contact form or email [email protected]. We look at your current site if you have one, then reply with a plain, fixed quote and a couple of ideas — usually within one business day. No pressure, no obligation.
How long does a build take?
Most sites go live in about three weeks from the first call. A ground-up brand takes a little longer. You get a real date with your quote.
Do we need to meet in person?
No. Everything happens by phone, email, and a shared look at the design in your browser. Owners have launched entire sites with us between check-ins at the front desk.
Do you work outside the United States?
We keep the studio focused on American motels and motor lodges — it's what we know and love. If you're just over the border and the property fits, ask; otherwise we'll point you somewhere good.
Pricing & ownership
What do the packages cost?
Roadside starts at $1,900, Motor Lodge at $3,500, and The Full Neon is quoted custom. Every project gets a fixed quote after a short call — no hourly billing, no mystery line items.
Are there ongoing costs?
The optional Upkeep plan is $99/month for hosting, monitoring, and edits by email. Beyond that: your domain (typically under $20/year) and your booking engine's own fee if you use one.
Do you take a commission on bookings?
Never. That's the whole point of what we build. You pay for the site; every booking after that is yours, commission-free, forever.
Who owns the website, domain, and content?
You do — all of it. If you ever leave, you take the site, the domain, the photos, the words, and your guest list with you.
Is there a payment plan?
Yes — projects are typically split into a deposit and a completion payment, and we can spread larger builds further. Ask when you get your quote.
Booking & the OTAs
Do I have to leave Booking.com and Expedia?
No, and for most motels we don't recommend it. The apps are advertising — useful for first-time guests. The goal is converting repeat guests and name-searchers to book direct, so the commission stops being your biggest marketing bill.
What booking engine will I get?
Whichever fits your property. We compare the small-property engines honestly — monthly cost, per-booking fees, phone usability — and set up the best fit. We take no referral fee from any of them.
Can the site sync availability with the OTAs?
Yes. If you list on the apps, we connect a channel sync so direct bookings and app bookings can't collide into a double-book.
Can guests book by phone?
They can and they will — your number stays a tap away on every page. The booking engine just catches the guests who'd rather not call, and the ones driving at 11 p.m.
Getting found
Will my motel show up on Google?
That's the job. Every build ships with clean titles, schema markup, a sitemap, and your Google Business Profile connected. Motor Lodge adds the full local SEO setup — reviews, local pages, and search-matched content.
How do reviews end up on my website?
We wire your Google reviews onto the site with the right markup so your stars can show in search results, and we set up a simple routine for earning steady new reviews at checkout.
Do you do social media?
We set up the foundations — profiles that match the brand, linked correctly. Ongoing posting isn't our core service, but the photography direction gives you a camera roll worth posting.
What's in the free website review?
Send us your current site and town, and within two business days we email back a plain-English 10-point review: what's costing you bookings on phones, on Google, and on the booking path — and what we'd fix first. Free, no strings.
The technical stuff
Will the site work on phones?
It's built for phones first — most travel searches start there, usually from a car. Fast on weak highway signal, click-to-call everywhere, and a book button that never scrolls away.
Is hosting included?
Launch includes getting you hosted on a modern, fast setup. Ongoing hosting rides in the $99/month Upkeep plan, or we hand the site to whatever host you prefer.
What about accessibility (ADA)?
We build to accessibility standards from the start — readable contrast, keyboard navigation, labeled forms, alt text. It's the right thing to do and it protects your business.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes — at handoff we show you how, and everything is standard technology any web person can maintain. Most owners still choose Upkeep, because emailing a change beats remembering a login.
What happens to my old site's Google standing?
We map and redirect your old pages to the new ones so the standing you've earned carries over instead of resetting. It's routine, and it matters.
